Venue Spaces
The National Convention Centre (NCCC) has a total 15 individual meeting rooms which offer full flexibility and adaptability, suiting any conference program or meeting room design requirements. These include some of our larger areas such as the Royal Theatre, Exhibition Hall and Ballroom, with a further selection of breakout rooms, workshops rooms and tiered theatrettes also available – Canberra’s largest, purpose-built meetings venue!

NCCC, in partnership with Encore, can now offer a dedicated production suite as a tailor-made solution for any hybrid or virtual meeting requirements you may have.
The NCCC is blessed with an abundance of natural light, has an inclusive feel, offers attentive service and can provide the latest technology for any in-person, hybrid or virtual event.
Floorplans provided in this section not only highlight the physical location of each meeting space within the venue but also highlight the proximity between rooms and ease of delegate flow throughout the venue as a whole.

The Theatrettes
We offer four theatrettes varying in size. These are perfect as breakout rooms and for training, smaller conferences and seminars. Pillar-free spaces offer clear line of site for delegates and speakers, with ceiling heights for each theatrette ranging from 3.2 to 3.3 metres. All theatrettes include screens and PA systems. Our foyer accommodates up to 200 delegates.

Royal Theatre
This elegant space offers plush tiered seating suitable for plenary sessions, concerts, gala dinners and awards presentations. It's the largest, multi-function tiered-seating theatre in Canberra, and can accommodate 2,478 guests in tiered seating and flat floor seating. The Royal Theatre can accommodate up to 3,378 guests in tiered seating and general admission. (749 square metres).
The Royal Theatre can host around 100 - 2460 attendees, this space can also be setup to suit the following event types. A flexible space that can be configured in dozens of ways. Standout features include a flat-floor section in front of the large stage, backstage support rooms and an audiovisual control room. Pillar free space offers clear line of site for delegates and speakers with ceiling height ranging from 4.6 to 9.1 metres. Capacity for concerts and events with Tiered Seating and General Admission (GA) is now 3378 guests in total.

We offer five highly adaptable rooms, varying from 90 square metres to 170 square metres. These rooms are perfect for breakout rooms, training sessions, workshops, seminars to cocktail parties, intimate dinners to VIP entertaining. These rooms are flooded with natural light and are supported with inbuilt screens, data projectors and dual motorised blinds.
The Gallery Rooms can host around 10 - 512 attendees, this space can also be setup to suit the following event types. Pillar free space offers clear line of site for delegates and speakers. Foyer accommodates up to 250 delegates.

Our Exhibition Hall is the most adaptable events space in Canberra. It's an ideal setting for large-scale exhibitions, gala dinners, cocktail parties, awards ceremonies and product launches. It offers 2,000 square metres of space, a ceiling height of 9 metres and vehicle access height of 3.9 metres.
The Exhibition Hall can host around 10 - 2000 attendees, this space can also be setup to suit the following event types. Can accommodate up to 120 exhibitor booths (3 X 3 metre). Airy, light, spacious and versatile with full-length windows overlooking Glebe Park. Fully carpeted, with floor pits for power and communication capability. Easy bump in and bump out that doesn’t require a loading bay schedule.

The Ballroom
Our ballroom is a versatile space, conveniently located on the first floor. It's suitable for cocktail events and gala dinners, as well as major exhibitions and plenary sessions. The ballroom has up to 762 square metres of pillar-free space, a 4.5-metre high ceiling and loads of natural light.
The Ballroom can host around 10 - 650 attendees, this space can also be setup to suit the following event types. Space can be configured to suit all requirements. Ballroom Foyer is 300 m2, accommodates up to 200 guests with a ceiling height of 5.3 metres and abundant natural light. Canberra’s most flexible Ballroom centrally located.

You’ll indulge in innovative and mouth-watering menus at the National Convention Centre Canberra, designed around fresh, quality ingredients celebrating each season. Executive Chef Prasantha Giragama, with 27 years of experience in the culinary field, leads our talented team. Previously the Executive Chef at Heritance Kandalama, a 5-star hotel in Sri Lanka, and Head Chef at the Australian Defence Academy in Canberra, Prasantha brings a wealth of international expertise and a passion for food excellence. His notable achievements include winning the Best Kitchen Team award at the 2019 Culinary Art Competition in Colombo and being named Best Restaurant Cookery Employee at the 2015 Australian Hotels Association (AHA) ACT Hospitality Awards.
Prasantha’s team provides unique culinary experiences for more than 130,000 guests a year, with all catering provided in-house. He prepares intimate dining experiences up to conference gala dinners for 1,400 guests, designing creative culinary experiences that showcase all Canberra has to offer, including award-winning produce and wines. ‘This requires maintaining reliable and long-lasting relationships with local producers and makers, guaranteeing quality and consistency,’ says Prasantha.
The Centre also runs a sustainable kitchen, processing organic waste, using certified sustainable fish, recycling fryer oil, managing food wastage (including through vermicomposting), and providing rescued food to OzHarvest.
Prasantha promotes a guest-focused approach within the kitchen, empowering his team to take responsibility for decisions and consistently go the extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction. He implements creative new menus incorporating current food trends to ensure guests are consistently highly satisfied. His management roles have seen a significant reduction in food and wage costs through new control systems and operational structures.
Chef Prasantha’s passion for food is undeniable, and his extensive experience and dedication make him an invaluable member of the National Convention Centre Canberra team.

Introducing Cumulus
Our event services partner Encore Event Technologies offer their exclusive mobile app Cumulus at no charge to National Convention Centre Canberra (NCCC) clients when using their event services. This innovative new app provides delegates with convenient access to important event information from a smartphone or tablet.
Event organisers can manage their own event-specific content via a user-friendly interface so that they can make changes instantly and delegates have access to the latest information. Event information accessible on Cumulus includes venue details, floor plans, maps, event program, speaker biographies, transportation, sponsor information and exhibitor listings.
The modern design and practical user experience of Cumulus enables live polling during the event, links to social media channels and access to an event Bulletin Board to hear or download the latest happenings at the event.

To enhance our customer experience, we have added a new state of the art digital signage and wayfinding installation. This exciting new system makes navigating the venue intuitive and seamless for conference delegates and concert goers alike. And because things can change in live events, our new system allows for any required updates and edits to be made online and in real time by the NCCC operational team 24/7. But the system is not just a superb network of directional aids. It also allows for event promotional and branding material to be sent to all or any of our 27 new full HD display devices. Sponsorship opportunities are also fully supported with the placement of several large LED walls in key high traffic areas that display branding, promotions and a wide range of multimedia and video material.
This is perfect for making sure key information and messaging gets to your audience.
